About this site

About this site:

Credits for the photos on the revolving header are:
  • The freaky bat faces are from an old Ernst Haeckel drawing on the Wikipedia page on bats. (See my article on the acoustics of bat faces.)
  • The photo of me on a Polish pirate ship is from a trip to Gdansk in 2004.
  • The image of nuclei flying down a tube is courtesy of Lawrence Livermore National Labs, illustrating their 2006 discovery of the heaviest element so far, number 118, which I covered for Seed.
  • The image of the Antarctic station that looks like a caterpillar on skis is courtesy of Faber Maunsell and Hugh Brockton Architects, who designed the station, which I covered for Science.

The site is backed by Joomla, an open source content management system. It took a bit to learn to use it and set up the site, but since then it has really been easy to use and I highly recommend it.

The template for the site was just $20 from Joomla Junkie.
